Peace Pebble (SHARES AVAILABLE)

TOBY LAWES

2022 Bay gelding by Fastnet Rock ex Peace of Glory - Toby Lawes

SHARES AVAILABLE

We were delighted to secure the four-year-old gelding Peace Pebble privately for €60,000 following a highly promising debut in Ireland. Trained by Willie McCreery, he finished a close second in a 1m 6f maiden at Navan on 21 October 2026, coming from towards the back of the field to launch his challenge along the far-side rail. We were quick to act following that performance and are thrilled to have secured him for Toby and Clare Lawes to train at their new base in Lambourn.

The form of his debut looks particularly encouraging. The winner had previously won two bumpers, the third was rated 78 on the Flat and the fourth was already rated 132 over hurdles. This suggests Peace Pebble produced a performance in the region of an 80 rating on his first start, which was a very pleasing effort. With just one racecourse start behind him, he has plenty of scope to progress and is ready to begin schooling ahead of an intended hurdling debut this winter.

Peace Pebble is by Fastnet Rock, sire of the 2024 County Hurdle winner Absurde. His dam, Peace Of Glory, was a six-time winner and a half-sister to German Oaks heroine Palmas. Of particular interest for our National Hunt plans, she is by Sholokhov, the sire of outstanding jumps performers including Shishkin, Bob Olinger and Don Cossack. This gives Peace Pebble an interesting pedigree, combining Fastnet Rock with some proven National Hunt influences on his dam’s side.

Peace Pebble was co-bred by Luke Lillingston’s Mount Coote Stud before being sold as a yearling to Willie McCreery, who owned and trained him until our purchase. Both Luke and Willie spoke highly of his temperament, describing him as a straightforward horse with a great attitude. He also passed a full veterinary examination prior to the purchase.

The plan is very much to send him hurdling, with the hope that he could be ready to make his debut over obstacles before Christmas. He also retains the option of returning to the Flat in the future, where his promising Navan performance suggests he should be capable of winning his maiden. We are delighted to have secured him for Toby and Clare and look forward to seeing what he can achieve over the coming months and beyond.

Shares in Peace Pebble are available now and offered on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. An all-inclusive 1/16th share is priced at £8,300. Please get in touch for further information or to register your interest in joining us.

PEACE PEBBLE

Toby Lawes is an exciting National Hunt trainer who will be based at Neardown Stables in Lambourn from the 2026/27 season, having relocated from Henfold in Surrey after six and a half successful years. During his time at Henfold, Toby enjoyed some notable achievements, including St Pancras, winner of the Listed Scottish Triumph Hurdle, Klimt Madrik, runner-up in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle, and Surrey Quest, winner of the Mandarin Chase and runner-up in the Scottish Grand National. The move to Lambourn marks an exciting new chapter for Toby and his wife Clare, returning to an area they know well and establishing their operation in the heart of Britain's premier National Hunt training centre. With its rich racing heritage and excellent training facilities, Lambourn provides an ideal base from which to build on the success already achieved. New to the Kennet Valley trainer roster, Toby trains our four-year-old gelding Peace Pebble, our first National Hunt recruit for some time. Having finished a promising second on his debut in a maiden at Navan, Peace Pebble now looks forward to a new chapter over hurdles under Toby's guidance. We’re delighted to be working with Toby and Clare and look forward to introducing our owners to their new base at Neardown Stables and following Peace Pebble's progress over the coming months.
