We were delighted to secure our fifth yearling at Tattersalls Book 3. This impressive colt is by Study of Man out of the Bobby’s Kitten mare Sands of Time, purchased for £38,000. He is eligible for Band C restricted races and both Tattersalls sales races.

A robust colt with plenty of substance, he caught our eye with his free-flowing walk, so smooth and effortless that you could barely hear him coming with your eyes closed! He has a lovely physical presence and plenty of scope to develop with time, making him an exciting addition to the team.

Study of Man made a winning debut at two before enjoying an excellent three-year-old campaign, winning a Group 2 prior to landing the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club. He has since established himself as an exciting sire, producing the Group 1 winner Kalpana, who has continued to fly the flag for older fillies this season. Sons And Lovers is another high-class performer by the sire.  He is by Deep Impact, one of Japan’s greatest racehorses and champion sires, and the only son of Deep Impact standing at stud in England. His granddam is the legendary Miesque, a dual Classic winner who also produced Kingmambo, one of the most influential sires of his generation.

Our colt’s dam, Sands of Time, showed plenty of precocity herself, winning on debut by five lengths. The combination of Study of Man’s class and stamina with her speed and precocity makes for an exciting pedigree.

Luke Lillingston commented:

“In an extremely strong market we feel we have found some real value.  Study of Man won the French Derby, undoubtedly Europe’s most successful stallion producing race. He is now one of this country’s most up and coming sires standing at marginally less than this colt’s purchase price. His dam is closely related to Sandrine (both by Bobby’s Kitten), one of the fastest two-year-old fillies of her generation. Sir Mark Prescott has allowed me to quote him in saying about his grand dam was “the fastest horse I have ever trained, including Pivotal”! This very classy looking colt has huge potential and I’m confident will way outrun his bargain purchase price. I think he may be the sleeper in this year’s pack.”
