GOLDEN BROWN (SHARES AVAILABLE)
Ed Walker
2023 Bay Colt by Galileo Gold ex Dark Acclamation - Ed Walker
We bought this colt from the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster which makes him eligible for ‘Harry’s Half Million’ Sales Race at the York Ebor Festival next August. He is a powerful and precocious looking colt who should make up into a smart two-year-old, but with the scope to go on at three too.
He is by the 2,000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold, a son of Paco Boy out of a mare by arguably the world’s top turf stallion of recent times in Galileo. Galileo Gold has tasted plenty of success at stud with Ebro River winning the Phoenix Stakes (Group 1) for Hugo Palmer, who also trained the Sire. Hugo also trains the highly promising Group placed two-year-old of this year, Seagulls Eleven, so we felt it was a good sign that he was underbidder!
The dam, Dark Acclamation, has already produced the Group three winning two-year-old Tiger Belle from her short time at stud to date. The vendor of that filly when she was sold, came up to us at Doncaster and said that our colt was a much better physical than she was. Dare we dream…
Luke Lillingston commented: “We have enjoyed plenty of success over the years buying yearlings by stallions that have shown that they are very capable, but are perhaps a little forgotten at the time of purchase. Galileo Gold is a good case in point and on pedigree it was easy to be attracted to a colt out of a young mare who had already bred a group winning two-year-old. Interestingly he was one half of a two horse consignment from Moyfinn Stud. The other was a Tasleet colt who topped the sale at £350,000. Both Sam and Ed Walker, who will train this colt, will attest that at the start of the day, while we all liked the ultimate sale topper, our favourite horse all day was the one we brought home. He is a powerful impressive colt, in bred to Green Desert (a notably successful cross) and has the scope to be a decent runner next year and beyond.”
