We were delighted to sign for our first yearling of the sales season recently at Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale.  This daughter of Soldier’s Call is an honest-looking, athletic filly, and we were thrilled to secure her for 38,000 guineas — which qualifies her for the Band C restricted races.

Like Calendar Girl, she is a granddaughter of Showcasing, this time by Soldier’s Call rather than Advertise.  We have obviously got a very talented Soldier’s Call in our ranks already with Conscript, and we are big fans of the Sire.

We actually liked her brother, Chief Minister, at last year’s sales, although we didn’t manage to buy him.  He was recently seen finishing behind Night in Vegas in the Tattersalls Sales Race, and is one who Eve predicts is going to climb through the ranks in handicaps in due course.

She will be trained by William Knight, who was equally taken with her. Kennet Valley has enjoyed considerable success with William over the years, including with stars such as Sir Busker and Dual Identity, and we’re excited to see what this filly can achieve.

This filly looks exactly that , and on various counts.   Firstly she is an early foal born a day before Valentines , with depth of heart , and power behind the saddle. Her sire while trained in England was Champion 2 year old in France. He also won the Windsor Castle over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot , the Flying Childers ( G2 ) at Doncaster and was placed in the G1 Prix de L’ Abbaye that same season  against older horses , all over 5 furlongs – A real speedball ! 

Her dam has had three runners  two winners , including a 2 year old stakes winner in England and is by one of Europe’s leading sires the brilliant  Kingman. The current 2 year old  trained by Eve wasn’t too far behind “ our “ Elvis in the Sommerville Sales race. Dare we dream this filly could repeat Night in Vegas’ brilliant and lucrative win – I think we can.”

The share price includes all costs relating to the horse for the first year. This includes the purchase price, training fees, vets fees, budgeted racing/entry costs, insurance, buyer commission, and a management fee.

The management fee includes all administration, guaranteed badges when the horse runs, additional racecourse hospitality where possible, communication and event management, hospitality at the various trainer open mornings, and invitations to various other Kennet Valley events during the year.
