ALL ANGELS

Ed Walker

2024 Grey filly by Harry Angel ex Heavenly Snow - Ed Walker

The Swallow Syndicate - Ed Walker

We bought this beautiful daughter of Harry Angel for £55,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale in Doncaster.  This means she is eligible for the Goffs UK ‘Harry’s Harry Million’ Race at York Ebor’s meeting which we won two years ago with Dragon Leader and which we were sixth in this year with Golden Brown.

Harry Angel was a supremely tough son of the leading sire Dark Angel who won both the July Cup and the Haydock Sprint Cup, earning him the accolade of Champion Sprinter.  Whilst a superstar on the track, he probably didn’t wow breeders physically himself or with his first crop of foals when he first went to stud. As such I feel his early successes at stud went a little under the radar. However, the likes of Marshman and Arisaig have cemented his reputation as an exciting young sire that is capable of upgrading his mares. Interestingly, the two I mention above are out of mares by Galileo and this filly is by a son of Galileo in Australia.

The dam, Heavenly Snow, was a winner herself in Ireland but, for whatever reason, never got the chance to race on after an impressive win on her handicap debut. Her shrewd trainer was convinced there was much more improvement in her so her rating of 75 probably underestimated her true ability. Heavenly Snow has had one winner from one runner to hit the track to date and she hails from the Group 1 family of French 1,000 Guineas heroine Matiara and the Criterium De St Cloud winner Epicuris.

Luke Lillingston commented: “Sam has been telling me for some time that Harry Angel is a useful stallion and that we need to give his stock plenty of attention. This filly was therefore on our list and it was love at first sight when I had the pleasure of inspecting her. She is beautifully balanced, with the proverbial head of a princess and the bottom of a washer woman! She quickly became our nap of the day and I’m very excited to have secured her  Her beautifully-bred broodmare sire, Australia, is starting to really kick goals in that respect and indeed the Sadler’s Wells sire line in general has worked extremely well with Harry Angel, including in Australia (the continent ).’

ED WALKER
LAMBOURN, BERKSHIRE

GOLDEN BROWN & ALL ANGELS

Ed Walker is based at the beautiful Kingsdown Stables in Upper Lambourn and has become a highly regarded figure within British racing. In recent seasons he has built a reputation as one of the country’s most progressive and capable trainers, consistently producing high-quality performers from his West Berkshire base. Kennet Valley has enjoyed success with Ed through star filly Mollie Foster, and he now trains the progressive two-year-old Golden Brown in our familiar silks. He has made a bright start to his career and, although narrowly denied in recent runs, has shown plenty of ability and looks more than capable of shedding his maiden tag before long.
