RAISE THE STAKES
WILLIAM KNIGHT
2023 Chestnut Colt by Cotai Glory ex Swift Campaign - William Knight
We purchased this son of Cotai Glory at the Tattersalls Book 2 Yearling Sale in Newmarket, where he stood out as an athletic, sharp-moving individual with plenty of presence.
Cotai Glory was a tough and sound sprinter on the racecourse. He won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes as a two-year-old before famously having his saddle slip in the Group 2 Flying Childers when seemingly on course for victory. He trained on well and, alongside further Group 3 and Listed successes, finished second to Profitable in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes and third to Marsha in the Group 1 Nunthorpe. Cotai Glory has since made an excellent start to his stud career. His second crop produced The Platinum Queen, winner of the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye as a two-year-old, while this season’s Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Powerful Glory looks set to compete at the highest level in the future.
Raise The Stakes’ dam, Swift Campaign, was a winner and Listed-placed for John Gosden. She has made a strong start at stud, producing three winners from four runners, all successful as two-year-olds and earning solid ratings. His grandam, Tycoon’s Dolce, was a Listed winner in France, while his great-grandam, Tycoon’s Drama, was a Graded winner in the United States, highlighting the strength and depth of the family.
Raise The Stakes made a very green debut at Bath before continuing to learn with each run throughout last season. He will have gained valuable experience from those initial outings and has since been gelded and given a winter break. With time to grow and strengthen both physically and mentally, he looks very much a horse for the season ahead and one who should benefit from that patience as he progresses.

RAISE THE STAKES & PERSAZZ
William Knight has been one of Kennet Valley’s most successful trainers and an integral part of our team for many years. Now based at Rathmoy Stables in Newmarket, he has enjoyed some of his strongest seasons since relocating there in 2020. He is best known to Kennet Valley as the trainer of our much-loved flag bearer Sir Busker, a Group 2 winner and Group 1 performer who was retired last season. William also guided Dual Identity through a successful career, earning just under £150,000. He now trains our three-year-old Raise The Stakes and a new two-year-old by Persian Force. His Newmarket base offers superb facilities and memorable owner experiences, including access to the Jockey Club Rooms for dinner ahead of stable visits.
