FAIR WIND (GB)
TRAINED BY OWEN BURROWS
2020 Bay Gelding by Tasleet ex Gone Sailing - Owen Burrows
KVS V
Fair Wind is a smart looking gelding from the first crop of the top class sprinter Tasleet. He moved to Owen Burrows at the beginning of last year and progressed very well, winning twice. We hope he can continue to climb the sprinting racks this year.
Tasleet won the Duke of York Stakes (Group 2) as a three-year-old, beating our own Magical Memory, before going on to finish runner-up in three subsequent Group 1 sprints. His own sire Showcasing is one of the leading stallions in Europe, climbing from an initial stud fee of £5,000 to his current fee of £45,000 as a result of some superb results from his early crops. He has since sired the likes of Group 1 winners Mohaather, Advertise and Quiet Reflection; thus cementing himself as one of the most consistent sires around. The Green Desert sireline is a great sire producing line and hopefully Showcasing’s son Tasleet will prove another star to arise from it.
The dam, Gone Sailing, has produced five winners from her six runners on the track and these include the Listed-winning / 109-rated Major Jumbo and the 96-rated Uncle Jumbo. Gone Sailing is a granddaughter of the Cheveley Park (Group 1) winner Prophecy which makes this mating a clever one, because Prophecy is already further up the pedigree as the dam of Arabesque. Arabesque is the dam of Showcasing, sire of Tasleet. Maternal inbreeding of blue hens like Prophecy has been very successful in the past so hopefully this will be another example!
We purchased Fair Wind for 52,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale in 2021.
