DUAL IDENTITY (IRE)

TRAINED BY WILLIAM KNIGHT

2018 Bay Gelding by Belardo ex Teide Lady - William Knight

KVS IV

Dual Identity is a five-time winner with a proven affinity for 1m2f at Sandown, though he also possesses the pace to excel over a mile. His record speaks for itself, providing his owners with numerous memorable days, including another victory at Sandown in May last year. He continues to thrive after a strong winter and looks poised to be a key contender this season.

This striking gelding hails from the first crop of Belardo, the Champion two-year-old and Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1) winner, who also triumphed in the Lockinge Stakes (Group 1) at four. Belardo, a son of leading sire Lope De Vega, attained a higher Timeform rating than his renowned father. His dam, Danaskaya, was crowned Champion two-year-old filly in Ireland, highlighting her top-class credentials.

Dual Identity’s dam, Teide Lady, is a winning daughter of the legendary Derby winner Nashwan. She has already produced the Group 3-winning two-year-old Ayaar and is also a half-sister to Superlative Stakes (Group 2) winner Hatta Fort and recent Group 3 victor Spirit of Appin.

Acquired at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale, Dual Identity has flourished under the guidance of trainer William Knight. After a stellar 2024 season, he is set to target more high-profile races this year.

Lining up in the prestigious Lincoln at Doncaster at the start of the flat season, he faced the challenge of breaking from stall 1, requiring him to navigate across the field and concede valuable ground. Despite this, he put in a determined performance to secure a respectable 7th place in a highly competitive 22-runner field. It was an encouraging return, and a step up in trip should play to his strengths as the season unfolds. Connections have earmarked the John Smith’s Cup at York in July as a potential major target, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting campaign.
