BLUE TRAIN (IRE)
TRAINED BY WILLIAM KNIGHT
2022 Bay Gelding by Blue Point ex Samdaniya - William Knight
KVS XIV
We purchased Blue Train for 75,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Book One sale (2023), this makes him eligible for the Tattersalls £25,000 Book One bonus. He is training with William Knight who was a great help in finding this gelding and loved him accordingly.
His sire, Blue Point, was a top class sprinter himself who went to stud with great expectation as a son of the mighty Shamardal. He has more than justified that hype with his first two-year-olds last season, siring the likes of Rosallion (Group 1 Lagardere winner) and Big Evs (Group 2 Flying Childers winner).
The dam, Samdaniya, was a minor winner herself but has already produced a Fred Darling (Group 3) winner in Dabyah and crucially her best horses appear to be by faster stallions of which Blue Point is one of these. The second dam, Cloud Castle, won the Nell Gwyn (Group 3) and she is half-sister to the wonderful Luso and Warrsan. A final interesting pedigree note is that this colt is inbred 2×4 to Machiavellian and this inbreeding has worked in the past, most notably with the outstanding racehorse/sire Lope De Vega.
