Blue Train was purchased at the Tattersalls Book One Sale and is trained by William Knight, who played a key role in finding this exciting gelding and was particularly taken with him.

His sire, Blue Point, was a top-class sprinter and has quickly established himself as a leading young stallion. His first two-year-olds made a huge impact last season, producing stars such as Rosallion, winner of the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère, and Big Evs, who landed the Group 2 Flying Childers.

The dam, Samdaniya, was a minor winner but has already produced a high-class performer in Dabyah, winner of the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes. Interestingly, her best progeny appear to come from speedier stallions, making Blue Point a particularly exciting match. His second dam, Cloud Castle, won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn and is a half-sister to top-class middle-distance performers Luso and Warrsan. Another interesting note in the pedigree is his inbreeding (2×4) to Machiavellian, a pattern that has produced success in the past, most notably with the outstanding Lope De Vega.

Blue Train grew significantly through his two-year-old season, which may have impacted his performances at the time. However, he has strengthened and filled out over the winter. He shaped with real promise on his last start at Windsor, only just missing out in a photo finish. He looks to be a late-maturing type, and now that the penny is starting to drop, we hope he will continue to improve with each run this season.
